Gumbo, A taste of New Orleans
Celebrating our 38th month as a couple, we decided to try this restaurant named Gumbo. It is situated on the 2nd floor of SM Mall of Asia, at the back of the mall facing SM By The Bay.
They serve food inspired from New Orleans, Louisiana. Gumbo has a Mardi Gras theme and it is very noticeable as you enter the restaurant.

Accessories inspired from the Mardi Gras Festival are also available for free, you can definitely use them for selfies/photo ops.
The view also looks great as you can see the bay from the inside of the restaurant.

True or false game cards were also placed on each table. They were facts about New Orleans. We had the chance to play the game while waiting for our food to arrive and definitely had some fun.
We ordered their family feast (Php 795+), this is a big whole plate with honey-glazed chicken, Bourbon-style barbeque ribs, batter coated cream dory, shrimp kebabs, grilled skewered vegetables, and a choice of 2 side dishes (we picked mashed potatoes and more vegetables).

Also ordered some potato fries, and since we're Asians we got a cup of rice for each of us.

Surprisingly, it was served faster than we expected.

The ice cream tasted basic yet creamy. Definitely helped me to cool down after the energy draining date at the National Museum of Natural History (See my next post regarding our National Museum Date Experience).
Our servers were very approachable, they always had warm smiles whenever we call them.

Their food servings were huge, this could actually feed a family of 3-4.
Barbeque Ribs- this was fork tender and melts in my mouth, it is flavor-packed as well.
Batter Coated Cream Dory- My personal favorite! I don't like Cream Dory but this is mouthwatering. Very crispy, light, and satisfying.
Shrimp Kebabs- Was too gummy and tasted weird. Similar to a grocery bought frozen shrimp. I like shrimps but got disappointed with this.
Grilled Skewered Vegetables- Tastes like how you imagine it. Chared vegetable, very crunchy and fresh.
Mashed Potatoes- Taste was bland and the texture was similar to an instant Mashed Potato (which is sad if you're eating at a decent restaurant since you'll be expecting everything to taste fresh)
Extra Side of Vegetables- It was okay, nothing special about it. The normally frozen vegetables you'll see in the grocery store (corn, carrots, beans, broccoli).
Potato Fries- REAL FRESH POTATOES, yass. Best with the Batter Coated Cream Dory, it was a balanced symphony together.
Also had some bottomless Iced tea, It's your basic Lemon iced tea. Simply refreshing.
For the dessert, a Chocolate sundae was a hit as the sun was also hitting us that hard. It was extremely hot that day. Whew.

They made our whole experience so relaxed and also made our tummies happy!
I highly recommend that you try out Gumbo and taste what New Orleans has to offer at least once in your life. You'll be thankful you did.
Till' the next blog.
Adios!
